Biography
Lorenzo Ferrándiz began conducting after a successful career as a percussionist, during which he performed with the renowned Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam alongside the most prestigious conductors of the last two decades. His conducting is characterized by intensity and interpretative precision, forging profound connections between composers' intentions and modern audiences.
Principal Conductor of CrossingLines Ensemble, Barcelona's leading contemporary music ensemble, and Guest Conductor of Ensemble New Babylon (Bremen), he has premiered and recorded many new works, including a critically acclaimed CD of Benet Casablancas for NAXOS. He has conducted the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, Orchestra Ciudad de Granada, L'Orquestra Simfònica del Gran Teatre del Liceu, and numerous chamber groups at festivals including Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Mixtur, and Series 20/21 (Madrid).
Former assistant conductor to Josep Pons and John Adams at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, his interest in stage music led him to conduct Agustí Charles's Andrómeda Encadenada in Darmstadt and debut at the Liceu's Òh!pera with premieres by Carlos de Castellarnau and Montserrat Lladó. In 2014 he won the Musicians' Award at the III International Eduard Toldrà Competition.
